The radio is effective propaganda tool as what was heard on it was forced upon the listener. The listener had no choice but to listen to it, change radio stations (however at the time, the government probably broadcasted pro-allied messages on every station) or switch the radio off. Voices could be manipulated to sound like pain and it was thought that the radio gave a more personal plea to European citizens. However, radio broadcasts were not very popular as not many households had the radio, along with the fact that the television wasn’t invented yet, therefore no visual images could come alongside the voices on the radio. Speeches were usually played from political leaders and could be broadcasted very quickly all over the countries.
